Jakes Partial Mock Draft
Mock Draft
1.) Miami Dolphins: DE Chris Long VirginiaBig shocker here the Dolphins don't take either Jake Long or Glenn Dorsey, but their are reasons for that. Long for the Dolphins would be a wasted pick, their offensive line has improved much and doesn't need help. And Dorsey doesn't seem to have the work ethic to keep up with everybody. Long however is a talented pass rusher, that never gives up. Coaches around the ACC have said alot about his work ethic and will to play. This pick might be traded as well as miami will want to get more help on the defense and would like more picks.
Other Possibilities: Glenn Dorsey, Jake Long, Kenny Phillips, Calais Campbell, Trade
2.)New England Patriots (Via 49ers): RB Darren McFadden Arkansas
This might be a very controversial pick in New England because of Laurence Maroney being only 2 years in the league. Their is a major possibility of this pick being traded, being the Patriots also need help in the secondary and a trade would help them...
Other Possibilities: James Laurinaitis, Kenny Phillips, Malcom Jenkins, Trade
3.)St. Louis Rams: DT Glenn Dorsey LSU
The Rams need somebody who can stop the run and Dorsey can if hes healthy. He doesn't exactly have the work ethic some teams want but if he puts his mind to it he can be a star DT.
Other Possibilities:Calais Campell, Jake Long, Brian Brohm
4.)New York Jets: DE Calais Campbell Miami
The Jets run defense has been horrible this year and Campbell would help the Defense very much.
Other Possibilities:Sedrick Ellis, Brian Brohm, James Laurinaitis
5.)Oakland Raiders: OT Jake Long Michigan
An Offensive line would help Jamarcus and the gang of RB's behind them get the offense going, as the defense is already pretty good. Gallery is pretty much a bust by now and they need to get help at Tackle.
Other Possibilities:Desean Jackson, Mario Manningham, Sam Baker
6.)Cincinatti Bengals:OLB James Laurinaitis Ohio State
Their defense is realing and they need massive help to get it back up to par with the offense. Laurinitis has kept up the strength of the defense in place of AJ Hawk and he will help that defense alot.
Other Possibilities:
7.)Atlanta Falcons:QB Brian Brohm
After the whole Vick incident, their will be a reunion of the Louisville pair of Brohm and Petrino. This will ignite their passing game a little more than what Harrington does now...
Other Possibilities:Matt Ryan, Andre Woodson
8.)Baltimore Ravens: OT Barry Richardson
This pick is a real toss up, The Raven could go in many ways. They could go with a QB or some defense help. Baker will help them pass the ball more efficiently and run the ball. Their line will be one of the best in the NFL
Other Possibilities: Malcom Jenkins, Matt Ryan, Aqib Talib
9.)Kansas City Chiefs: CB Malcom Jenkins
Ty Law and Surtain have not done much with this secondary the front has been good, so no help is needed there. The other possibility is offensive line but no players are worth taking. Malcom Jenkins will be a great pick up for this secondary.
Other Possibilities: Jordan Grimes, Kenny Phillips, Aqib Talib
10.)New Orleans Saints: CB Aqib Talib Kansas
The Saints pass coverage is horrible and they need something to help it. Talib has been apart of the suprising Kansas team that had one loss in the season. The secondary was one of the biggest parts of the team and he can be a good CB.
Other Possibilities: Kenny Phillips, Dwight Lowery, Antoine Cason
11.)Minnesota Vikings: QB Matt Ryan Boston College
Ryan had a hell of a season with BC and his draft stock has increased incredibly. Tavaris Jackson just hasn't gotten the job done for the Vikings and they most likely are going to give up on him soon. They won't pick Andre Woodson here because i don't think they want another QB like Jackson.
Other Possibilities:Desean Jackson, Mario Mannigham, Andre Woodson
12.)Carolina Panthers: S Kenny Phillips Miami
Panthers have Ken Lucas and Chris Gamble at CB but their safetys are horrible. Phillips could be the #1 DB prospect in the draft but CB's are in more demand then safetys. The Panthers could also go for a linebacker here.
Other Possibilities:Dan Connor, Keith Rivers, Andre Woodson
13.)Chicago Bears: QB Andre Woodson Kentucky
None of their QB's have been the answer this year and it seems like they may have to go after a rookie. Woodson is not a prototypical QB but he can sure get it to where it needs to. Woodson can hopefully change the Bears problems...
Other Possibilities: Colt Brennan, Vernon Gholston, Chad Henne
14.)Denver Broncos: MLB Dan Connor Penn State
The Broncos need alot of help on pass rushing and run stopping and Dan Connor is the tough linebacker they need. They could possibly go defensive tackle here but Connor is too good to pass up.
Other Possibilities: Sedrick Ellis, Frank Okam, Tom Zbikowski
15.)Philadelphia Eagles: WR Desean Jackson California
Jackson is the kick returner and all around WR the Eagles need to help McNabb and Kolb in the future. They could go Manningham but then they would not have a returner and merely another WR, that might be a failure.
Other Possibilities:Mario Manningham, Martin Rucker
16.)Buffalo Bills: DT Sedrick Ellis USC
The Bills need a way of stopping the run, their secondary is alright and their offense is good for the time being but they need to stop the run. Ellis wiil fill in those holes perfectly.
Other Possibilities:Frank Okam, Dwight Lowery, John Carlson
17.)Arizona Cardinals: CB Dwight Lowery San Jose State
The Cardinals need serious help in their secondary and Lowery is the Best availablt. This pick is a little high but it will be worth it in the long run.
Other Possibilities:Reggie Smith, Anotine Cason, Jordan Grimes
18.)Houston Texans: RB Steve Slaton West Virginia
Ron Dayne certainly is not a number 1 back and with an alright offensive line it won't get any better. Slaton is a sure first rounder and will be much better than Dayne and faster.
Other Possibilities: Mike Hart, Jonathan Stewart, Alan Patrick
19.)San Diego Chargers: DT Frank Okam Texas
The Chargers need a big man up front also some depth for their very old defensive line. Okam can pass rush and fill up the holes and should be good for their line.
Other Possibilities: Quentin Groves, Tyon Jackson, Vernon Gholston
20.)Washington Redskins: DE Tyson Jackson LSU
Redskins need a Defensive End and it would be better go to the draft, which has a lot of depth at DE. Tyson is a strong rusher and should be a nice compliment on that line.
Other Possibilities: Quentin Groves, Lawrence Jackson
21.)Tampa Bay Buccaneers: WR Mario Mannigham Michigan
The Bucs wide receiver core isn't getting any younger, their two leading receivers are over the age of 30 and they need to get a good WR that will replace them. Mannigham didn't have a spectacular season but good enough to be a good WR in this draft.
Other Possibilities: Early Doucet, Limas Sweed, James Hardy
22.)Detroit Lions: DE Quentin Groves Auburn
They have great DT's but they don't have the pass rush from the outside. Groves could get them the pressure on the QB they need and shutdown some RB's.
Other Possibilities: Vernon Gholston, Antoine Cason
23.)Seattle Seahawks: RB Jonathan Stewart Oregon
After seeing Alexander this season it is shown that he doesn't have his old stuff anymore. Stewart can bring a spark to the offense and he went to college not far from Seattle so he will be a fan favorite.
Other Possibilities: Ray Rice, Mike Hart, Vernon Gholston
24.)Dallas Cowboys (via Browns): WR Early Doucet LSU
The Cowboys have Glenn, Owens and Crayton but who knows how much longer Glenn and Owens will be in the league. Doucet would be a great WR future pick.
Other Possibilities:Limas Sweed, Antoine Cason, James Hardy
25.)Tennessee Titans: WR Limas Sweed Texas
The Titans have no WR help for Vince Young, they had Givens but he got injured and is non existant. Sweed is a promising WR out of Texas and he can give Young some help.
Other Possibilities: James Hardy, Felix Jones
26.)New York Giants: CB Antoine Cason Arizona
They could use help at linebacker but at this point in the draft their are none worth taking. Cason could help bolster the secondary. They might try to trade up to get another player.
Other Possibilities: Keith Rivers, Bruce Davis, Tom Zbikowski
27.)Jacksonville Jaguars: DE Vernon Gholston Ohio State
The Jaguars are solid on offense, the secondary, Defensive Tackles and linebackers. All they need is pass rushers to do them some good. Gholston is a good pick out of Ohio State and Should help them.
Other Possibilities: Lawrence Jackson, Tommy Blake, Ray Maualuga
28.)Pittsburgh Steelers: OG Jordan Grimes Purdue
Steelers need somebody who can anchor their line for years to come and Grimed is good.
Other Possibilities: James Hardy, John Sullivan
29.)San Francisco 49ers (via Colts): WR James Hardy Indiana
Darrel Jackson certainly hasn't been the fix they were looking for at WR. They might possibly trade up to get a better WR than Hardy, although he is still a pretty good WR.
Other Possbilities: Marcus Monk, Malcom Kelly, Brandon Flowers
30.)Green Bay Packers: RB Felix Jones Arkansas
Brandon Jackson doesn't seem to be the answer to the Packers RB problems and Felix Jones that he can still be an amazing back even though hes backing up the number 1 runnung back in the nation.
Other Possibilities:Alan Patrick, Mike Hart, Martin Rucker
31.)Dallas Cowboys: CB Brandon Flowers Virginia Tech
The Cowboys could use some depth in the secondary and Flowers is the best available. They might possibly go for a Safety but that depends on whether they think Roy Williams is still the answer.
Other Possibilities: Tom Zbikowski, Ray Rice, Darien Williams
32.)New England Patriots: Forfeited
